Position Overview: The Front Load Driver operates front-end trucks that service multi-family residential and commercial routes by removing and transporting waste or recyclables in accordance with customer contracts. This role requires servicing multiple customers daily and transferring waste to the appropriate station, landfill, or drop-off location.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate commercial frontload or ancillary equipment along designated routes to collect solid waste and transport it to post-collection facilities.
• Open container enclosures or gates to access cans, rolling 3-4-yard cans on castors into position for dumping as needed.
• Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections; complete and submit vehicle condition reports at the end of each shift.
• Interact courteously with customers and the public along the route, answering questions or responding to requests; notify supervisors of issues requiring action.
• Clean any loose trash from the truck and surrounding areas to maintain clean customer sites and ensure roadway safety.
• Maintain and submit logbooks, daily route/productivity sheets, and vehicle condition reports in accordance with legal and company standards.
• Maneuver trucks into tight spaces using mirrors, backing up as needed.
• Use maps and GPS systems to locate service addresses.
• Follow all safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out protocols, and monitor operations for loose debris.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Minimum of one (1) year of commercial truck driving experience OR a CDL school certificate.
• Ability to meet company standards for safety-sensitive functions.
• Proven ability to safely operate trucks and equipment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Familiarity with truck components and basic maintenance requirements.
• Skill in maneuvering trucks into tight spaces, often using mirrors and backing up distances of 120 feet or more.
• Ability to identify and avoid hazardous waste materials.
• Strong communication skills for interactions with customers and team members.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and comprehending maps and related documentation.
• Willingness to adapt to change and pursue continuous improvement.
• Physical capability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to coordinate movements using multiple limbs while sitting or standing.
• Strict adherence to all company safety protocols.

Physical/Mental Demands:

• Frequent standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing.
• Visual acuity for close, distant, and peripheral vision, with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Regular lifting/moving of up to 25 pounds; frequent lifting/moving of up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting/moving of up to 100 pounds. Occasional movement/pushing of up to 300 pounds.
• Ability to repeatedly enter and exit the truck to open container enclosures.
• Occasional climbing atop trucks to secure loads.
• Sitting for approximately 75% of the workday.
• Work in loud conditions.

Working Conditions:

• Frequent exposure to loud noise, humidity, rain, extreme heat, and cold.
• Regular interaction with moving mechanical parts, vibrations, chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
• Outdoor work up to 100% of the time.
• Routes frequently take place away from branch locations.
• Occasional work in high, precarious places.
• Continuous work in motor vehicle traffic conditions.
